Pukka pies at the ready, it stands to be a snook-tastic weekend. Saturday’s semi is a clash of titanic proportions with the top two players in the game going head-to-head and depending who catches on fire, Friday’s could be a good old ding-dong too.
Friday – Ding Junhui (Chn) v Stephen Maguire (Sco)
Saturday – Ronnie O’Sullivan (Eng) v John Higgins (Sco)

Higgins takes the first two frames then Ronnie comes out and makes a stylish century break to make it 2 – 1. This could be a great match
Apparently the noise of a band practising is distracting players! Willie Thorne on commentry implies the only music he listens to is the song “snooker loopy”. Somehow that doesn’t suprise me.
Higgins 3 – 1 O’Sullivan. Only one big break so far and two serious looking players. Game on.
Stone-faced Higgy baby knocks in a clinical 127 break to go 5 – 1. No towels over Ronnie’s head just yet…
A cheeky chappy in the audience has just been giving Ronnie a bit of coaching! Come on Ronald, let’s make a match of this…
‘Gins is unstoppable. No amount of crowd support can help Ronnie now, but show us some magic.
Brilliant mid-sesh montage – well done BBC! Ronnie – lovable nutter, and Paul Hunter, sadly missed.
Ronnie makes six failed escapes from a self imposed-snooker then fouls (deliberately?) to put Higgins in. Jan ver Haas doesn’t know what’s going on. Love it.
COME ON RONNIE!
Controversial frame to Ronnie! 8-5 “Loophole” says John Parrot. Genius says Snookerpunk.
Does Higgy have the last frame jitters?
I think he does! It is funny but I willed that pink to catch the front knuckle for Higgle and it did! I will try and use my telepathic powers some more to guide Ronnie to the final.
8-7! I’d give my right arm for a final-frame showdown…
Absolute classic stuff here. This comeback is officially on. 8-7 Higgins.
Ronniedenio is getting the rub of the green now and something tells me he’ll take advantage.
I expect a lot of missed balls in this deciding frame.
Vintage Ronnie. 8-8…
“Brave – heart from the Scot” Very cheesy Dennis Taylor
Ronald D Sullivan O.B.E made a classic comeback but Higgy showed us all how a world champ knocks a decising frame off. Well done boys. Ding for the cup. #snooker
Great effort by Higglypuff in the final frame. What a game of snooker! Interesting to know what the wizard will have to say about the little controversy.
Full marks to John for having a laugh about foulgate and beeing sympathetic towards Jan Verhass. Maybe some snooker pros could give run a training course for football managers on how to do a dignified post-match interview?
Meeeow! I like ‘foulgate’ , very good indeed.
P.S. Jan Verhaas’ highest break is 78 – not too shabby!
